Homes We’ve Built in Ontario
From concept to completion: a look at some of the homes and projects we’ve crafted across Southwestern Ontario and Muskoka.
Taylor Island, Muskoka
This conventional-framed cottage is enhanced with handcrafted timberframe accents, blending reliability with warmth and character to create a timeless, inviting retreat. Every element complements the natural landscape, from the durable composite decking to the granite steps rising gracefully from the water’s edge. What truly sets this build apart is its foundation, engineered directly into the existing granite rock—anchoring the home to the terrain rather than altering it. The result is a one-of-a-kind cottage that demonstrates precision, ingenuity, and a deep respect for the site.
West Elgin, Ontario
What began as a modest, one-floor ranch-style home with an attached garage was completely reimagined into a striking timber-framed retreat. The original structure was taken back to its core, with the entire truss roof system and key walls removed to allow for a bold Douglas Fir post-and-beam timber frame to take shape. An engineered wood I-joist roof system was integrated to deliver modern performance while supporting the home’s new architectural presence. Extending the living experience outdoors, a custom exterior wood-burning fireplace was added, creating a warm and inviting focal point. The result is a dramatic structural transformation that blends traditional craftsmanship with thoughtful, contemporary design.
Strathroy, Ontario
Designed as the ultimate Man-Cave or She-Shed, this retreat combines rugged craftsmanship with refined comfort. The full timberframe structure showcases exposed beams and natural materials, while the SIP panel roof and walls provide energy efficiency and year-round comfort. In-floor heating keeps the space warm even in the coldest months. Whitewashed pine shiplap wraps the interior, highlighting the natural stone fireplace—a striking centerpiece for cozy evenings. Outside, a covered concrete patio features a handcrafted natural stone pizza oven, perfect for gatherings. Finished with durable steel roofing and cladding, this structure is built to last while offering a truly one-of-a-kind getaway.
Walkers Point, Muskoka
This luxury cottage blends traditional craftsmanship with modern finishes, featuring a conventionally framed structure accented with warm timber elements. A durable steel roof and James Hardie siding provide lasting protection, while Raven windows and doors frame the surrounding views. Glass railings and composite decking create a seamless connection to the landscape, and inside, engineered hardwood flooring and 12-inch shiplap walls and ceilings add texture and brightness. A hand-cut stone fireplace serves as the heart of the home, while the finished basement offers versatile living space. Anchored directly into the granite rock beneath it, the cottage is solid, enduring, and thoughtfully crafted from the ground up.
Acton Island, Muskoka
This project features a traditionally framed cottage with a charming bunkie, creating a versatile retreat built for comfort and longevity. Western Red Cedar timber accents add warmth and character to the exterior, contrasting beautifully with durable James Hardie siding for a timeless look. Inside, the finished basement with in-floor heating provides valuable year-round living space, keeping the home cozy even in colder months. Beneath it all, reinforced footings and a strengthened foundation ensure exceptional stability and peace of mind. The result is a thoughtfully crafted getaway that blends classic construction with modern performance.
West Lorne, Ontario
This project began as a modest one-floor ranch-style home with an attached garage, but the vision for the space extended far beyond its original footprint. The entire roof system was carefully removed to allow for a full second-storey addition, dramatically expanding the home’s livable space and architectural presence. To further enhance the layout, an ICF (Insulated Concrete Form) addition was built for the new living room and kitchen, featuring a robust Comslab concrete floor system tied into the second-floor addition for exceptional strength, energy efficiency, and long-term durability. The result is a home that feels entirely reimagined—modern, solid, and thoughtfully connected from foundation to rooftop.
Ingersoll, Ontario
This attached outdoor living space showcases craftsmanship and natural beauty as a screened timber-frame structure built from rich Western Red Cedar. The warm cedar tones are enhanced with a Sansin Rosewood stain, giving the timbers depth and character while maintaining their natural elegance. Custom-fabricated steel-frame sliding barn doors add a bold architectural touch, blending rustic style with modern durability. A clear-coat cedar floor with hidden fasteners creates a clean, seamless look, while integrated LED lighting brings the space to life after dark, casting a soft glow that makes the area feel welcoming and refined. The result is a functional, stylish outdoor retreat designed to be enjoyed in every season.
